London Fashion Week has been and gone, Autumn has arrived and so has the Marks & Spencer A/W 16 collection. Last month, I got the chance to see what the coming months hold for the brand. It's fair to say M&S are showing us how making the transition between your summer and autumn wardrobe need not be a tricky one. Front row tickets are not needed for this one...Are you taking notes?
With trends including The Big Easy, Romantic Explorer, Eccentrics, Into the Night, Metropolis and Best of British, it’s clear that M&S are hitting the A/W 2016 scene with serious style in abundance.
How often have you debated whether it’s ‘the right time’ to wear your winter coat? The Per Una Sleeveless coat by Marks and Spencer will make it feel like it’s always the right time. Pairing it up with a leather jacket underneath adds an edge to this fur-collar piece, while making it a versatile, mix-and-match friendly addition to your closet.
Per Una Black Sleeveless Coat, £79.
The Autumn months do not have to mean dark colours and knitwear galore. Enter the Lace Detail top from Marks and Spencer’s Romantic Explorer trend. The detailed neckline and bell sleeves sets this piece apart from your average blouse. Add to the look with minimal accessories, such as mid-rings and dainty chokers. It reaches stores this month, along with other A/W essentials, so keep an eye on the rails.
Lace Detail Top, £27.50
What M&S say about this season’s trends: “From opulent overload to subdued minimalism, one thing that unites next season's trends is an overarching feel of
quality and timelessness.” www.marksandspencer.com
